We have filled out many forms over the past few days...

...and Katie has been probed and prodded.

The results have shown that Katie has what should be a minor, correctable condition called hip displaysia. Basically, it means her left femur is a little loose in the hip socket. This is likely not a serious condition, but she will be required to wear a Pavlik harness for a few weeks. This should help correct the problem. It seems the joint has not completely developed and her leg needs some guidance for it to grow and lock in properly.
The cause could be genetic, or possibly due to her position in the womb. There is no way to be certain and different doctors have provided conflicting information. My web research confirms that many times, the cause is simply indeterminable.
Here is a video we shot showing Katie in her harness. I will note that Katie has shown no discomfort at all with the harness (despite our initial discomfort). She has been real good through everything and we are truly blessed. I warn you that it really looks worse than it is and remember, it should be a short term inconvenience.
